Ruby Goodnight Speaking At Eroticon 2013

Eroticon 2013 erotic writer conferenceI’m proud to finally be able to let my blog readers know that I will be speaking at Eroticon 2013!

From the bio that’s been published on the site, you can probably get the jist of what I’ll be speaking about. Right now, the initial plan is for me to discuss the more commercial aspects of adult writing – working with porn sites, sex toy retailers, as well as ghostwriting.

A lot of the focus at Eroticon is for novelist and bloggers who earn an income through royalties and ad revenue. I’ve often had these writers get in touch with me ‘on the hush’ to find ways of breaking into the commercial field of writing, and what that entails. It seems that sometimes, writing for money (rather than the pure enjoyment of the craft) is a tad taboo. I’m hoping to be able to push that aside for a moment or two, and give those who are interested the means to get their foot in the door when it comes to commercial adult writing.

Ruby Goodnight at Eroticon 2013

Eroticon 2013 Ruby GoodnightNot that I had any doubt that I would be attending, but today it is official. I’ve purchased my ticket to Eroticon 2013. The 2012 event was the premier of this sex bloggers and erotica writer’s event, and I am glad to see that it has been extended to a full two days for the 2013 reincarnation.

According to the web site, Eroticon 2013 is described as “the UK’s only conference for sex bloggers and erotica writers. [...] If you are sex writer, blogger, editor, publisher, journalist, performer or artist Eroticon 2013 will be the networking event of the year. Meet with like minded people and leading voices of the erotic industries, make new contacts and learn new skills in a safe and supportive environment.”

Right now, tickets are in the “Super Early Bird” phase, where you can get the ticket for £77.53 for one day (£75 + fee) or £128.78 for the two days (£125 + fee). If you’re a bit stretched for cash at the moment, you can get it on an installment plan. You’ll be charged £50 up from, then two payments of £37.50 (plus fees) monthly thereafter. This Super Early Bird phase of the Eroticon 2013 tickets only lasts until 01 September 2012, so you have around six weeks to get in and get it at the early price.

With the lineup that is already set up for this year, I know that it’s going to be an amazing event. Hope to see you there!

Thoughts on Eroticon 2012

I had an amazing time at Eroticon this weekend. It’s given me a much needed battery recharge and reaffirmed that what I do is valid, appreciated, and profitable. Rather than go into a long journaling session, I thought I’d list a few thoughts I had about my experiences at this erotica writer’s conference.

Keep going…I want more…

Marie Symeou Interviews Ruby Goodnight

Before Christmas, I took part in an interview with a great blogger called Marie Symeou. She’s the author of Frozen In Time, a novel about an ancient Greek vampire.

Author interviews are a great way for erotica writers to get their names out there, and draw a bit of attention to your style. I was glad that Marie had some great questions that went beyond the “what’s your favorite color” train of thought.

For those of you who are interested in reading about this erotica writer, catch the interview with Ruby Goodnight.

Excited for Eroticon2012

Eroticon 2012 Erotica WritersIn case you missed a previous post of mine, there’s a great convention happening in the UK called Eroticon 2012. It’s a place where sex bloggers and adult writers can get together, do a bit of networking, and take part in some amazing workshops. The £100 price tag may seem like a bit of a pocket hit, but it’s a lot less if you take into account that participants will be receiving a £50 voucher for LoveHoney. If you’re doing this as a business, like me, you can always take it off as a business expense!

I’m making a weekend of it, myself. I’ve bought my conference ticket, and just sorted out the train tickets to get me from my home in the High Peak to Bristol. I’m just waiting for another invoice to be paid off, then I’ll get my room at the Premier Inn taken care of too. I’m looking forward to meeting other erotica writers and putting some faces to the names that I’ve been reading for so long. I’ve had a look at the workshop offerings, and they’re just too good to choose from.

Clearing Out The Dust

While jet lag can be quite the pain in the ass, I’ve found myself in that dream-like state where you come up with the most out-there concepts which seem to make perfect sense at the time. Lucky for me, I’ve been writing all of these down, in the hopes of when my post-Transatlantic-flight haze passes, I can use some of the ideas for story lines. At the very least, I’ll see something quite humorous, even if I can’t use them for any erotica story ideas.

Luckily, I’ve given myself two more days to recover back to normal before I start taking on any of the new projects that have come across my desk while I’ve been away. I know I wouldn’t be comfortable creating adult content in my current state!

I’m also going to take the time and trim some of the fat off. I have a few lingering contracts where the employer hasn’t been in touch for weeks, so I need to clear my plate and get going with newer and more naughty erotica and adult writing!

Gathering of Erotica Writers – Eroticon 2012

I was having a play on Twitter this morning (@RubyGoodnight, btw), and I came across a conference for erotica writers in the UK – Eroticon 2012. I had been looking for some kind of adult conference to go to for a while, but most of the social networking circles I run in center around the pornography side of the adult industry – not really a place for a writer like me. I’m quite excited about it. First payday in the new year will be going to paying for this 1 day erotica writer’s event!

Now, I just need to find a place to stay in Bristol that’s somewhat close to the venue, and sort out train times and whatnot. Maybe I’ll be able to find a few other cons like this in the new year.
